Good morning! Yesterday I got last week's students back, but had to prepare for two new ones this week! Thank you for being patient! I sent home the reading page at the end of the day yesterday but not everyone got it so hopefully they will have it tonight. They can also access it on the "routines" bar at the top of this home page.
I will send home speak up today as well. AR is starting to get better, and two students have already met their goal for the trimester! Yippee! This week we are working on frames/arrows and name collection boxes in math! Its hard to explain what they mean without a picture! (see below) We are also doing "What's My rule?" Tomorrow is wear yellow day for our dress up week! on thursday we will have a teacher candidate join us to do some interning in social studies. more on that later! Stay warm! I'm not gonna lie! This week was a doozy! I'm so glad the students were awesome and patient! I'm hopeful that on MOnday we can see a little normalcy for a few days!
After we finish some "must dos" on our schedule we are going to do an October art project! We need some play time! next week we have photo retakes on Tuesday the 27th. it is also dress up week, and Monday is pajama/comfy day! We WILL have speak up next Friday since we didn't do it today! Have an awesome weekend! Talk to you soon! Greetings!
I suppose by now you've read the information dealing with a more "amped" up covid response. In school we are looking at more strict limitations in social distancing. The students have color square on their lockers and will be dismissed to recess by color. We will get ready at our desk areas instead of congested in the halls. Of course we will continue to sanitize and wear our masks! ONe thing that we will have to adjust to a little is remembering to stay in our own desk space, even during breakfast and lunch! No one will share school tools without proper time quarantine. We have been doing this already, but we will all work with more diligence to keep everyone here!! spelling test tomorrow! STay warm!! Hello there! My students are in pe so i can take a breath and actually sit at my desk! I am distancing with four students, and can honestly say that each day I learn a little more....the hard way! Thanks to patient students, and some positive mindset by all of us! At about the time i'm ready to give up, I try one more thing! I'm very proud of myself when it works! its a great lesson for the kids too! i can't do it...yet!
We are still not certain about the school days to come, but i feel more comfortable every day with my students and our routines and technology savvy! pictures are going home today! i see some great smiles! I haven't seen them without a mask more than a few times! lol! I had someone ask about speak up today....yesterday i said we are skipping it because of the crazy week! I am collecting paper towel rolls so that we can make "tree houses" later this winter! talk to you all soon! Good morning! I apologize for not blogging yesterday! I have to go distance with five students and basically had to make lesson plans....for myself! I usually teach in the moment, but with students at home depending on a schedule I had to make sure I was prepared for the next 4 days! I will probably do a morning blog for awhile!
Anyway, it went pretty well, and my three at home got on line when they needed to! It was new for me, but today I'm ready to go! I think the students are too! the weather forecast is looking kind of shady this week! please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for the week! Who knows what we might encounter!? I have decided to skip speak up this week, so please disregard that on the calendar! thank you for getting at home folders back to me! this is how I take attendance on that day! we will finish a mini weather unit this week, which is pretty perfect timing! we've seen a variety in minnesota lately! we also are talking about good sentences and beginning verb work. Our math unit is primarily about quick ways to do addition facts, and i am teaching them "touch points" to use as needed! next week will be dress up days for the week. I will post them later...by friday for sure! Talk to you soon! Stay healthy! Good morning! Have a great day learning from home. I went through all of the materials with the students, so they shouldn't have many questions. I will be on my computer a lot today, and you can get in touch if you need to!
This week we worked on our weather standards for science. It was fun making a weather tool kit, and now the students are working at a weather vocabulary scavenger hunt! We will also be doing a seesaw weather report next week! I will make sure they are available for you to watch. the group is getting settled more into routines, and ar is starting to look good! Some students are really challenging themselves! we are working on addition math facts in math. if you have a device available for your child they can work on sumdog or math facts in a flash (if they rememeber their login information)! Have a great long weekend! I know these days of uncertainty with covid are very stressful! I plan to go to Red Wing and enjoy the last of fall in our camper! Take care! wear your masks! Happy Monday! Its a gloomy morning, but we needed the rain! I heard some people had more than that!
This week we do NOT have any spelling or reading series stories. In short weeks like this we try to do some science or social studies. Our class is going to do both! We will be learning about weather ANd starting some map activities. The students usually like these experiences! On wednesday they will be learning from home, and I will explain their work on Tuesday. Please keep practicing time and money, and read!!! I'm adding a couple of things coming up....please keep scrolling! Thanks! Have a great week and relaxing em break! What a beautiful week we are having! I put a post on facebook....autumn is my favorite color! ; ) Your child should be working on their fluency homework this week. Please let me know if you have questions. They are to do this each night, not all in one night if possible. The goal is to improve their reading words per minute with few errors. The other items they should be working on this week are their AR reading and spelling words! We've been doing a LOT with money, so if you have change sitting around, have them count it! This week we are talking about culture and family traditions in our reading. They now know I am very norwegian and love lefse and rommegrot! Have a great day!! |
