Good morning! Have a great day learning from home. I went through all of the materials with the students, so they shouldn't have many questions. I will be on my computer a lot today, and you can get in touch if you need to!
This week we worked on our weather standards for science. It was fun making a weather tool kit, and now the students are working at a weather vocabulary scavenger hunt! We will also be doing a seesaw weather report next week! I will make sure they are available for you to watch. the group is getting settled more into routines, and ar is starting to look good! Some students are really challenging themselves! we are working on addition math facts in math. if you have a device available for your child they can work on sumdog or math facts in a flash (if they rememeber their login information)! Have a great long weekend! I know these days of uncertainty with covid are very stressful! I plan to go to Red Wing and enjoy the last of fall in our camper! Take care! wear your masks!

Happy Monday! Its a gloomy morning, but we needed the rain! I heard some people had more than that!
This week we do NOT have any spelling or reading series stories. In short weeks like this we try to do some science or social studies. Our class is going to do both! We will be learning about weather ANd starting some map activities. The students usually like these experiences! On wednesday they will be learning from home, and I will explain their work on Tuesday. Please keep practicing time and money, and read!!! I'm adding a couple of things coming up....please keep scrolling! Thanks! Have a great week and relaxing em break! What a beautiful week we are having! I put a post on facebook....autumn is my favorite color! ; ) Your child should be working on their fluency homework this week. Please let me know if you have questions. They are to do this each night, not all in one night if possible. The goal is to improve their reading words per minute with few errors. The other items they should be working on this week are their AR reading and spelling words! We've been doing a LOT with money, so if you have change sitting around, have them count it! This week we are talking about culture and family traditions in our reading. They now know I am very norwegian and love lefse and rommegrot! Have a great day!! Greetings! today was one of those days....and at about 2:15 when I couldn't get my technology to cooperate I suddenly realized....it is a full moon tonight! I should have known!
I chatted with the students right away this morning about responsibility. yesterday was an at home "learning" day just like a school day. Several students didn't finish their work, and a few more weren't prepared with an AR book to read. So....i just told them that in second grade they are going to have to start doing "big kid" stuff like packing their own backpacks! ; ) It will get better! It always does! A big thank you to the parents/caregivers for support in getting things taken care of! Our book order came in today, so some of you will find those coming home. I've received a few more september tri-folds. I will get the swag tags to those students tomorrow. We have our first spelling test tomorrow! Partners in education.....tammy I've had a few parents mention the september Tri-fold disappearing! Its okay! I will be sending home October's tri-fold on Thursday! The goal is to return it at the end of the month with at least half of the activities done. A parent needs to sign and when it is returned your child gets a swag tag! swag tags get handed out for a variety of reasons! a swag tag is a visual way to say "awesome"!
Yes, today is pajama day! The students earned it! Mrs. Potato Head gets a "piece" every day that we have have been working hard! .As you can see, she needs to be put together again! Next time we are doing a gum and hat day! Our "STAR of the week" is Travis! He gets to be my classroom helper and sit in the "star chair" Tomorrow students will be "learning from home", and have a lesson plan sheet to check off items as they finish. Please keep everything in the folder to be returned. This will show attendance for the day. I will be going through the items with them today and answer questions, so they should be pretty independent! Thanks for your patience as they work on those routines! Have a great day! Happy Monday! I am finally starting a daily blog of events and other interesting "Stuff"! We are starting our reading curriculum today, which will help us establish routines. The daily schedule will start to look like the schedule posted on this site...BUT I teach in the moment so please allow some flexibility!
We've spent the past two weeks reviewing in math AND reading. We also took our FAst assessments, which helps me to see a little clearer picture of your child's development and needs. In Math we are looking at time and money, which is always a much needed practice! On Fridays we have been doing some STEM projects, and I will share a couple of pictures of things the students have come up with! Located below is this week's reading concepts and phonics. This is also being sent home in paper and is a good resource for practice! I also have a picture of the September "TRI FOLD" pamphlet I sent home at the beginning of the month. Your child was to complete at least 6 activities, get it signed by an adult, and then return for a "SWAG TAg"! In tomorrow's blog I will tell you what a "Swag Tag" is! lol! Have a great monday....even if some of you are still recovering from the vikings loss!!! ;( |
